Hello and welcome to Galt!
I am very happy to be working with you and your child this year.
Who am I?
My name is Jodi Coleman and I am in my 19th year at Alexander Galt. I was born and raised in the townships and I am very proud to be a teacher at Alexander Galt, my alma mater. I attended Bishop's University for my teaching degree and Queen's University for my Master's Degree. I am constantly striving to improve my teaching by remaining a learner myself. My main professional interests are: how to use different technologies (both digital and non) to improve student learning, and how to encourage my students to have a growth mindset. I live nearby in Waterville and I have an almost 7 year old daughter to keep me busy when I am not in school.
How to Contact me?
If at any time you would like to discuss something with me, please email me or send a note with your child and I will get back to you either by email or by telephone. My email is ([email protected]).
You can access it directly on the GALT website under the Staff Members-Teaching Staff tab OR use the button below.

The Purpose of this site:
*Approximately 20 minutes of practice homework is assigned each Mathematics class and verified by the teacher for completion. (Please note this is an estimation. Many factors influence the time that it takes students to complete assignments. However, if your child is consistently taking longer than the 20 minutes outlined, please contact me to discuss possible reasons why). Students who do not complete their assignments will have to do so at lunch time.
Students are responsible to record their homework in their agendas daily. Students should use the paper agenda they have been provided.
Please make sure that you bring all the essential elements home to complete the assignments.
Remediation:
Lunch remediation is available at lunch (schedule to be announced). For help at any other time, just ask and we can work something out.
IXL:
All Cycle 1 students will have access to the Math Help Services website. This program allows students to watch learning videos, create themselves practice assignments and to request to redo an assignment for a better mark.
**A student will not be penalized if there is no internet access at home. Please let me know if this if this is the case and I will make an arrangement with your child to allow him/her to work on an I-pad during class and then paper examples would become homework.
